Firth Rixson to Supply Ring Forgings for the GEnx Engine

EAST HARTFORD, Conn., October 13, 2006

Firth Rixson today announced that it has signed a long-term agreement with GE Aviation to supply seamless- ring forgings for the GEnx engine. Under the terms of the agreement, Firth Rixson will provide rings for a 5-year period beginning in 2009. The agreement is expected to generate sales of more than $200 million.

"This agreement further strengthens Firth Rixson's position as the leading supplier of forged rings to the aerospace industry," said David Mortimer, CEO of Firth Rixson. "We are pleased to become a major production participant on the GEnx engine and to strengthen our role as a strategic GE supplier."

Firth Rixson produces seamless-rolled rings for aerospace applications at four facilities in the U.S., one in the UK, and at a new facility in China.

Firth Rixson Limited (www.firthrixson.com) was formed in 2003 from a merger of UK-based Firth Rixson and U.S.-based Forged Metals, Inc. It is majority owned by The Carlyle Group (www.carlyle.com), a global private equity firm, and Lehman Brothers.
